I was working when the VP debate was being aired, but was able to catch a replay on C-SPAN later on. Honestly, I tuned in with my only intent being to watch Sarah Palin fall on her face. That's hateful, I know, but I am fed up with the Sarah Palin buzz. I still have a hard time finding her admirable. I am constantly horrified when people assume that I or anyone else for that matter should find her to be admirable because she is a woman who fills the VP slot on a Presidential ticket. My least favorite thing to hear is "you should listen to Sarah Palin, she's got a lot of good things to say, she is a really intelligent woman." I find her terrifying. I am terrified that she could be plucked from the Great White North with limited experience when it comes to the federal government and be just a heart beat away (as Tina Fey said) from the White House.
So as I began to watch the debate Thursday night I knew that Sen. Biden was not going to be able to pull out all of the stops that I hoped he would, afterall no one wanted him to look like he was beating her up, but I was still disappointed in the way the debate went. I get tired of watching candidates not answer questions. I get tired of listening to their practiced answers. Is it so much to ask for someone to FINALLY catch one of these people offguard?
As my disappointment continued growing I finally turned off C-SPAN knowing any of the best soundbytes would be on the morning news and that what I was missing in between was not going to be anything of any real substance. It's too bad though, because I was thinking these debates were going to be more exciting than the past years ...
