So after watching the first two presidential debates, I found myself enjoying the town hall meeting format more. Of course the first one was more exciting, being at Ole Miss and all, but nonetheless I enjoyed last night's actual debate more. The audience asked great questions, questions that I myself wanted to know the answers to. The candidates answered them still somewhat vaguely, however they did give more direct answers than other times I had seen them talk. McCain seemed more fired up last night, making more direct hits towards Obama than before. Obama spoke strongly as always, keeping his usual calmness and composure.
So then who won? Just after the debate ended, CNN release a poll saying that Obama won, 54% to McCain's 30%. However, a FOX poll, released relatively at the same time, stated that McCain won 82% to Obama's 18%. First of all, this is a great indicator of the biases of the two networks. Secondly, it seems that overall, McCain seems to have been the winner, according to these polls. McCain overwhelmingly won the FOX poll while Obama won the CNN poll by a much smaller margin. As more articles, reports and statistics come out today and tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how these numbers change, however at first watch, it seems that McCain is seen by many as the winner of the second debate.
